2. How long have you been making websites?

i started this in 2024!! i also had a website when i was like ?? prolly like 9 or 10 that i made on like proto wix.com or something and was mostly just playing with widgets and reuploading flash games so i could play them on school computers :p

3. And what got you into the hobby?

i honestly dont remember, probably a tumblr post or something about how cool neocities is or something, started browsing random sites and had a lot of fun so i wanted to make my own!!

4. What kind of website are you most interested in?

i love searching on neocities for last updated and picking one that looks cool but doesnt have a lot of hits, or just randomly clicking through webrings or peoples buttons, and exploring peoples personal sites! gettings 2 see whos out there playing around on the web and reading about them and stuff they like and/or make is super cool!

5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?

i dont know i just mash my paws on the keyboard til something comes out lol. the last 2 reiterations of my site are based on petrapixel's layout maker but i scrap most of it and just make little content boxes as i go along! view my source code and go to css and scroll all the way down to see what a nightmare my box hell is ! :)

6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.

i dont think i have any that stand out in particular! like i said before i just love getting lost clicking links and seeing what other people are doing! check out the buttons on my main page for some of my favs

7. What's your favourite part about making websites?

complete customization and no censorship!!!! fuck shit cunt balls. no algorithm can stop me :)

8. And the thing you struggle with the most?

actually learning anything lol. i forget how to do anything as soon as i do it. i forget how to hyperlink or add images half the time lol. copy and pasting lines i already have is my best friend ^_^

9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?

currently (12/10/25) all pages that are currently up and accessible are the same, for simplicity while i redo everything, i do plan to get more creative and mix it up for some shrines and stuff, maybe make a nicer looking art gallery at some point. socsie.space 2.0 had a lot more variety but the main pages looked like shit unless you zoomed in so im just doing smth new for the 3.0 version

10. How confident are you with CSS?

fairrllyyyy. i have an ok understand of most stuff but idk how to do anything crazy. and if i dont know how to make smth look how i want it to ive been ok at googling or even taking a peek at how other people did stuff shhh dont tell anyone

13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?

i would be so lost if i had to do everything from scratch so the first step is dear ol petrapixels generator :) after that background img

no!! i tried learning a while ago but my computer broke and i forgot to keep at it once i got my new one. ive been too busy figuring out how linux works (id rather kms than have to use windows 11 and didnt want that shit on my new pc) and working on this site. maybe one day

16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?

pink and black. everything in my life has to be pink and black or i go crazy

17. Are you more focused on content or design?

mostly design, im kinda bad at writing. id like to make a blog page and ramble. most of my content is art and graphics at the momemt which are still fun and i like but so far ig im mostly focused on the design before i start adding too much

18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?

YES. i need to renew it when i get paid tbh im hoping it doesnt go out for a few days. i love neocities as a host and exploring other sites on here but i dont think id wanna go without having my website stand by itself as far as linking and everything goes. also i think the neocities domain is kinda ugly

19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?

i like them but idk if i have too much of an opinion. frutiger aero archive is pretty cool. im not a huge fan of nostalgia mined in general though, using the aesthetics of old web stuff is rly fun but recreating the past 1:1 is kinda boring!

20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?

probably not but dont invalidate it! all html is valid in my heart ^^

21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?

like the graphics or the element. idk. like them.

i love site button sections a lot its fun to click on random sites :)

ive pretty much started over like twice now lol. similar but just a little bit better

yes all the time sometimes i see shit that makes me mad that idk how to do it. i could learn but augh

i do everything in neocities so i can save and refresh and make sure everything looks ok and its easier to me. thats why i have a hundred william site updates lol

yeah i used to have everything backed up before my old pc died badly. but basically yeah except for like. most stuff atm

both but more highly visual ig! i like my layout fairly simple bc im bad at coding and its easier for me but i love cramming as much shit as i can into everything. fuck minimalism

no! even if i stop updating for whatever reason i like the idea of my site being more or less permanent forever and evers!! even if thru internet archive or smth.

i know like one or two ppl who have sites but only by chance :( im always trying to convert my friends to their own websites over social media tho

35. Do people in your real life know about your website?

i mean i guess. i hate the term "real life" to mean offline. my online friends are very much part of my real life! but yeah most people who know me have seen my site at some point, its linked on most of my socials and ive mentioned it to at least a couple coworkers so

depends what the adhd lets me do. when its in the forefront of my mind it is Very often, like daily at least. otherwise i tend to kinda forget and dont do much lol

37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?

ive changed it like twice in two years but its still pretty much the same. i like the way i have things for the most part lol

no but id love to if i was better at it! i yearn for a desk job

no not really. pretty much only for webrings/fanlistings and such. my friend has a complaint email for her site and sometimes i email it with general complaints that she has absolutely no control over. thats about all i use email for besides accounts and spam

yeah but not as much as the average person ig. i use tumblr and discord and post on instagram a couple times a year. id like to use bluesky more but i always forget about it

either music, long youtube videos (usually like oneyplays clip compilations, RTVS vods, podcasts, or snook who fills the nexpo shaped hole in my heart), or im on a call with my partner and we're watching a show or something. im listening to the normal album by will wood right now but its about to end so i guess i have to find something else. i like a lot of music though.

45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?

nah just this one. i started a lain core schizo rambling page when i was in psychosis but i dont even remember what it was called

ok hot take but hyperlinking. especially from large sites idgaf abt their bandwidth but also in SOME case from personal sites it can be really useful!! like for site buttons, i prefer mine to be hotlinked actually so if i change it itll update automatically on other peoples sites! but just general graphics and stuff prolly dont do that

52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?

no! i use a firefox fork and if youre on chrome or fucking internet explorer or some shit thats youre own problem have fun getting ur data stolen freak

54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.

i use floorp! firefox but without the tracking, plus theres a lot of cool features like having different workspaces to sort through your millions of tabs

55. And what OS are you on?

linux. i use arch btw. (kinda. i use endeavouros, which is just arch with some quality of life stuff and less of a headache to install.)

56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?

yes!!! i do. switch to linux. i havent been using it for very long but im STRONGLY anti windows atp, i dont want my computer running on ai slop. but linux is very nice and i love it a lot so far, its very customizable and fun to make it look how i want! if youre a neocities-er youll like it. download linux.

57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?

58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?

i like autoplay songs to set a vibe but at least put warnings and dont make it super loud. i usually have my own stuff playing bc i refuse to be alone with a thought so its a jumpscare if something just starts blasting at me

i love webrings theyre so cute and an awesome way to find more sites you wouldnt otherwise!! the ones im in are on my homepage

60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?

not at the moment due to the whole remaking thing. i used to have a ska shrine, was working on one for my fav band cheekface, and have a bunch more planned. ill get to it eventually. idk if theres anything i like to see most in other peoples, when they have a fun design thats usually really cool. i just like to see what people are into in general :)

61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?

i mean kinda yeah. its pretty basic neocities personal site but its miiiine

i think websites are too broad of a category to have an ideal lol. im aiming to make smth i love and represents me and thats enough. but its not like, the ideal club penguin wiki or the ideal video streaming platform. yknow?

yes! i drew a lot of the main assets on the old version, but with the simplified design i kinda scrapped them :( i wanna draw more for the site soon tho

ough ive gotta redo my resources link page. itll be there eventually. but for graphics and stuff i like tumblr tbh. even if everything saves as a webp

check out petrapixels and sadgirlonline for resources and templates! browse other peoples sites as much as you can and see what other people are doing and what you like about other sites! start with a template and build if you dont know how to code!
