GAME

OFFBEAT

★★★★☆

really fucking fun. its just a daw disguised as a game. theres some features i really wish it had, so it loses a star for now, but hey they might update it later, its still a super new indie game. the "story"/prompts are pretty fun to work with, but overall it made me excited to make things again so overall its fucking great. everyone should play this even if you have 0 music experience whatsoever

ALBUM

DIVORCE LAWYERS I SHAVED MY HEAD by jordaan mason & the horse museum

★★★★★

my new favorite album that i will never fucking listen to in full again. i sat in the dark for silence for like an hour after the album ended. absolutely gorgeous, gut wrenching, nauseating, sometimes disgusting* lyrics. jordaan's style of singing compliments the writing so well, its so hauntingly beautiful. 1990 was a long year makes me feel sick to my stomach, but in a good(?) way. like looking in a mirror for the first time ever and being disgusted by what you see, but thankful for the opportunity regardless. if i think about this album any more i'll go crazy. jesus christ.
*to me personally, something something things i dont want to think about

SHOW

LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA

★★★★☆

really cute and really nice to watch while half mentally conscious and half fully fucking disassociating. having cute yurislop randomly fucking end in an almost shot for shot recreation of end of evangelion was definitely a choice!

MOVIE

CLERKS 3

★★★☆☆

i was pretty nervous to watch this for a few years because im already wary of reboots and stuff, especially for cult classics like clerks, And the second movie was. pretty not great. but i kept hearing good things about it, and then found out the story behind it of the actor who plays randall refusing to do another movie after kevin smith's first script for clerks 3 allegedly fucking sucked, but then being convinced to after he read the rewritten script. so it sounded pretty promising. as we were starting it, i half joking said smth like "god i really hope this doesnt suck", and it felt like the movie responded by just blasting mcr's welcome to the black parade, which was really fucking funny to me. but overall, it was pretty good. there were some parts that felt like they were trying to hard to be funny and just ended up being kind of stupid and annoying to me, but the ending was surprisingly really emotional and was a really good closure to the series. he's not even supposed to be there today :(

MOVIE

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 2

★★☆☆☆

man i dont even know what to say this one sucked pretty bad. but not even really in a fun way like the first one did, it was just kind of bad and boring and predictable and looked really ugly.

SHOW

FALLOUT

★★★☆☆

i tried starting this when it first came out, but had mixed feelings before even starting it. i mean. mega corporation sponsored fallout is kind of yknow. hypocritical. felt weird and bad. but it was alright when i first started watching, i just ended up getting distracted and never continuing with it. i ended up picking it back up recently since season 2 came out, and its based off new vegas which is my favorite game of all time ever. so obviously i have to see that. i thought about just reading a summary of season one but enough people told me it was actually really good that ive been actually watching it. it's all right. im only like 3 or 4 episodes in and i do think it does an ok job adaptation wise, the world looks really fun. the pacing is throwing me off and making it hard for me to really care about any of the characters, so far lucy is so nothing, and i hate the brotherhood guy (and how this whole chapter of the brotherhood is tbh. why are they like that). the ghoul seems cool but again the pacing of just little snapshots into everyones life is kinda of just boring to me. but i dont want to form too many opinions before i get caught up, and im REALLY hoping they do new vegas well!!!! im excited to see how they did it, even just the trailers look SO fucking good.

ALBUM

THE STONE OPERATION by Mischief Brew

★★★★★

one of my favorite albums of all time. SUPER nostalgic for me in a way, when i was a kid, my mom listened to this a lot after it first came out. makes me feel like gardening and riding my bikes to the farmer's market. mischief brew altogether definitely shaped a LOT of my values and beliefs growing up, and i'm really glad this was the type of shit i was put onto as a kid haha. the bandcamp page for this album describes it as played with "fiercely strummed banjos, trashy drum kits more suited for a fairground organ, [...] junk percussion, drunken mandolin-playing, grotesque imagery" which like. yeah. half the time there is just random clanging and crashing, it's almost an absolute mess sonically but it all works together so well.

ALBUM

EVERYTHING GOES NUMB by Streetlight Manifesto

★★★★★

another one of my fav albums ever. every song is so fun and high energy, the arrangement of the brass is amazing, and tomas kalnoky is such and amazing guitarist and lyricist. absolutely no skips on this album and i might even go as far to say its the best ska album literally ever. i have even more of an appreciation for it after hearing tomas's solo acoustic covers of streetlight songs, many from this album, and how well they carry even if you take the insane tempo and blaring instruments away. what you're left with just really shows how great the songs are themselves are and its great. streetlights also been one of the most fun bands i've ever seen live, 10/10 would almost die in the pit to point/counterpoint again
