another one of my fav albums ever. every song is so fun and high energy, the arrangement of the brass is amazing, and tomas kalnoky is such and amazing guitarist and lyricist. absolutely no skips on this album and i might even go as far to say its the best ska album literally ever. i have even more of an appreciation for it after hearing tomas's solo acoustic covers of streetlight songs, many from this album, and how well they carry even if you take the insane tempo and blaring instruments away. what you're left with just really shows how great the songs are themselves are and its great. streetlights also been one of the most fun bands i've ever seen live, 10/10 would almost die in the pit to point/counterpoint again

THE STONE OPERATION

one of my favorite albums of all time. SUPER nostalgic for me in a way, when i was a kid, my mom listened to this a lot after it first came out. makes me feel like gardening and riding my bikes to the farmer's market. mischief brew altogether definitely shaped a LOT of my values and beliefs growing up, and i'm really glad this was the type of shit i was put onto as a kid haha. the bandcamp page for this album describes it as played with "fiercely strummed banjos, trashy drum kits more suited for a fairground organ, [...] junk percussion, drunken mandolin-playing, grotesque imagery" which like. yeah. half the time there is just random clanging and crashing, it's almost an absolute mess sonically but it all works together so well.
